My name is Kody Nelson, founder of One Purpose Trading. My journey in the financial markets began in 2015, while serving in the United States Army Reserve.
Like many new traders, I started with long-term investing before exploring options and futures trading. What began as a side pursuit quickly became a passion that consumed countless nights, weekends, and early mornings dedicated to studying the markets.
The road to consistency was far from easy. It took nearly five years of trial and error, learning from mistakes, refining strategies, and developing the discipline required to manage risk effectively.
Through perseverance and a commitment to continuous improvement, I was eventually able to replace my corporate income through trading and make the transition to full-time self-employment in 2020.
Today, I have been self-employed for more than five years, and have dedicated much of that time to helping others navigate the same journey.
Through One Purpose Trading, I've mentored over 200 traders, conducted thousands of one-on-one phone calls, and built educational resources designed to simplify the learning curve for aspiring investors and traders.
My approach has always been centered around transparency, integrity, and self-sufficiency. Rather than promoting shortcuts or unrealistic expectations, I focus on helping traders develop the skills, discipline, and mindset necessary to make informed decisions and build confidence in the markets.
Beyond trading, service remains a core part of my life. As a veteran-owned business, One Purpose Trading is built on the belief that success should be used to help others.
Through mentorship, education, and charitable giving, my goal is to create a positive impact both inside and outside the trading community.
No shortcuts, no curated highlight reel. The hard years are part of the lesson, not edited out of it.
